Emergency Garage Door Repair in San Clemente
Door jammed open late at night, or the car stuck behind it? Call and we will plan the fix.
Fixed price before we begin · Live phone 24/7
Emergency garage door repair is for the moments that will not keep until business hours. An open door at midnight is a security problem. A snapped spring at dawn can trap the car. Island Fox keeps a live phone line 24/7. We ask what happened, tell you how to keep everyone safe and arrange the visit.
Signs You Need Emergency Garage Door Repair
- The door is stuck open and you cannot lock up the garage for the night.
- You heard a sharp crack from the garage, and the door stays put when you press the button. That sound usually means a broken spring.
- A lift cable has snapped or come off its drum, and one side of the door hangs low (cable repair).
- A roller has popped loose or a section has slipped out of the rails.
- The car is shut inside and you need it before morning.
- The opener quit with the door halfway, or it keeps reversing and will not close (opener repair).
How We Handle an Emergency Call
- You call. A person answers (949) 516-4106 at any hour and asks where the door is stuck, what you heard and whether a car is trapped inside.
- We talk you through safety. Before the visit, we tell you what to leave alone and how to keep people and pets away from the door.
- The technician makes the door safe. The first job at the house is to stop any drop or drift: the door is held with clamps on the track or lowered under control.
- You get a fixed figure. Once the cause is clear, we price the repair from the owner's list. Nothing goes ahead until you approve it.
- We repair, test and lock up. When the part is on hand, we fit it that visit, balance the door and test the safety eyes. If a part must be ordered, we leave the opening secure and explain the next step.
Parts That Fail Without Warning
Torsion and extension springs. A torsion spring sits on a bar above the door and twists to lift it. Extension springs run beside the side rails and stretch. Either kind can snap with no warning, and then the door's full weight lands on whoever tries to lift it. We match the new spring to the door's weight and height.
Cables and drums. The lift cables wind onto drums at each end of the torsion bar. When one frays or jumps its drum, the door tilts and can jam. Cables are replaced in pairs so both sides lift evenly.
Rollers and track. Steel or nylon rollers ride inside the rails. A bent rail or a cracked roller can let a section slip out, which is how a door ends up crooked or wedged.
The opener and its release. Belt, chain and direct-drive openers all have a manual release, most often a red cord. Pulling it while a spring is broken can let the door fall, so leave it alone unless we tell you it is safe.
Safety While You Wait
Keep everyone, kids and pets included, out of the doorway. Stop pressing the remote and the wall button, because an opener can pull a damaged door further off its rails. Do not touch springs, cables or the bottom brackets; they hold a great deal of stored force. If the door is stuck open, lock the door that leads from the garage into the house. Then call and tell us what you see.
Secure Now, Repair or Replace Later?
Most emergencies end with a plain repair: a new spring, a cable pair, a set of rollers or a rail set back in line. A door that was hit by a car is different. If sections are creased or the frame is bent, we make the opening secure first and then go over the choices with you: panel replacement when your model is still made, or a new garage door when the damage runs wide. You do not have to decide that night.

The rates above are starting points. What moves the final figure is what we find at the door: how many springs it uses, whether both cables need replacing, how far a rail is bent, and whether the opener or a section was damaged too. Opener repairs and section swaps are quoted on site. You hear the whole figure before we begin, and the check-up visit costs $0 when you approve the repair.
After-Hours Coverage
We answer urgent calls across San Clemente, Dana Point, Capistrano Beach and San Juan Capistrano. Each town page covers local wear on doors and what the City asks before bigger door work. Starting rates are on the rate sheet, and the contact page has our address.
Emergency Questions We Hear
Does a real person answer at night?
Yes. Island Fox keeps a live phone line 24/7, weekends and holidays included. The person who answers asks where the door is stuck and what you heard, then explains how to keep everyone safe. If a part has failed, the call turns into a garage door repair visit with a fixed figure agreed before any work.
The car is stuck and the spring is broken. Now what?
Do not lift the door by hand and do not pull the red release cord. With a broken spring the door carries its full weight and can drop fast. Call us, keep people clear and wait for the technician. The fix is a garage door spring repair, done on that visit when the right size is on hand.
Should I try to pull an open door shut?
No. A door that will not close often has a broken spring, a loose cable or a roller out of its rail, and forcing it can make it fall or bend the track. Lock the inside door to the house and let us secure the garage door. Bent or twisted rails are handled as garage door track repair.
How is an emergency visit priced?
Emergency calls are priced from the owner's list of starting prices. Springs and cables start from $150 each, track fixes from $150 per door, and the check-up visit is $0 when you approve the repair. The technician names the final figure in your garage, and work starts only after you agree to it. If a lift cable snapped, our garage door cable repair page explains how both cables are replaced and balanced.
What if the opener stopped with the door halfway?
First check that the opener has power and that nothing blocks the safety eyes. If the door still will not move, leave the release cord alone until we know the springs are intact. We find out whether the fault is in the opener or the door itself. Garage door opener repair is quoted on site once we see the make and model.
